Yo bern you ever need someone to ride il do it no pay igot u uncle you a Fuccn legend. Greedy definition. Nooooooooooooo duuude I forgot how long ago this was xd. I remember the obscene cruelty inflicted upon the animals and the disinterest in this aspect of Rubaskin's crimes. To me it was the most important, and shameful. (Not that the expose' exposed more cruelty than occurs in non-Kosher slaughterhouses, but it underlined the brutality and lack of compassion in all industrial slaughterhouses.) In my opinion. Sadly, nothing has changed for helpless animals, at the mercy of greed in the system we allow.

As a secular psychological concept, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs. The degree of inordinance is related to the inability to control the reformulation of "wants" once desired "needs" are eliminated. Erich Fromm described greed as "a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction. " It is typically used to criticize those who seek excessive material wealth, although it may apply to the need to feel more excessively moral, social, or otherwise better than someone else. The purpose for greed, and any actions associated with it, is possibly to deprive others of potential means (perhaps, of basic survival and comfort) or future opportunities accordingly, or to obstruct them therefrom, thus insidious and tyrannical or otherwise having a negative connotation. Alternately, the purpose could be defense or counteraction from such dangerous, potential negotiation in matters of questionable agreeability. A consequence of greedy activity may be an inability to sustain any of the costs or burdens associated with that which has been or is being accumulated, leading to a backfire or destruction, whether of self or more generally. So, the level of " inordinance " of greed pertains to the amount of vanity, malice or burden associated with it. Views [ edit] Thomas Aquinas says that greed "is a sin against God, just as all mortal sins, in as much as man condemns things eternal for the sake of temporal things. " [1]: A1 In Dante's Purgatory, the avaricious penitents were bound and laid face down on the ground for having concentrated too much on earthly can also be represented by the fox. Meher Baba dictated that "Greed is a state of restlessness of the heart, and it consists mainly of craving for power and possessions. Possessions and power are sought for the fulfillment of desires. Man is only partially satisfied in his attempt to have the fulfillment of his desires, and this partial satisfaction fans and increases the flame of craving instead of extinguishing it. Thus greed always finds an endless field of conquest and leaves the man endlessly dissatisfied. The chief expressions of greed are related to the emotional part of man. " [2] Ivan Boesky famously defended greed in an 18 May 1986 commencement address at the UC Berkeley 's School of Business Administration, in which he said, "Greed is all right, by the way. I want you to know that. I think greed is healthy. You can be greedy and still feel good about yourself". [3] This speech inspired the 1987 film Wall Street, which features the famous line spoken by Gordon Gekko: "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. " [4] Inspirations [ edit] Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by greed. Such misdeeds can include simony, where one profits from soliciting goods within the actual confines of a church. A well-known example of greed is the pirate Hendrick Lucifer, who fought for hours to acquire Cuban gold, becoming mortally wounded in the process. He died of his wounds hours after having transferred the booty to his ship. [5] Genetics [ edit] Some research suggests there is a genetic basis for greed. It is possible people who have a shorter version of the ruthlessness gene (AVPR1a) may behave more selfishly. [6] See also [ edit] References [ edit] ^ Thomas Aquinas. "The Summa Theologica II-II. Greedy meaning. Sorry for my bad English. Very engaging speech. About taxes I feel the same, and was elated to find Dr. Chomsky thinking the same way. Greed must be an instrument of the need for power, to climb the hierarchy, and to influence, control and dominate others. Democracy is the product of clear moral conscience, and an abstract mind, but as Dr. Chomsky pointed out before, the state and the people are in a parental relationship, and the parental head does not do a good job to keep its dependents happy, with the exception of brief historical periods, during which favoritism can shift to different social groups, and the just state remains an ideal. I once remarked that a good course in political science should require a first assignment of a long essay about love, and what love must do to determine politics. When establishing first principles, the principles of emotion must receive the same priority as that of reason. I have faith in the ability of the top down political structure to enact positive change to society as a whole. Greed seems to be the great obstacle of our times, if not all of history. And yet Harriet Tubman should soon be honored on the face of the twenty dollar bill, among other civil rights and suffrage heroes on bank notes. A good sign, but not without its critics. But the money does not represent the system as some claim, instead the laws, regulations, social and cultural norms do. An artwork can change so much as Congress can, but in both cases the people with real power to create change are very few, I know this from personal experience. So if the streams of meaningful action is controlled by so few, the pastoral analogy from Christianity is very useful. The shepherd loves to lost sheep indeed. This is good news, but to consider some humans have the iq advantage lets say, compated to me, as I do to the sheep, it is a sobering thought! These few on top must constantly struggle with the control of fate over their lives, as indeed people do, but instead of worrying about fighting the political system from their superiors, as average people like me do, I sense they are more preoccupied with issues outside of their control such as disease, pestilence, natural disasters, loss of friends and loved ones. This must be a very humbling experience, so as to often evoke religious thinking, that the fact civilization still stands after so many generations looks like an evidence for the humbling and moralizing effects of power. There are very well known exceptions. So it is one tactic to question power, and to find listening ears among the people to create positive change as called the grass roots, and yet another is to appeal to the powerful. who, just like God, are often mysterious or unknown, and convince them to commission culture, to enact laws, and to govern justly. The two approaches can be complementary, and a just and peaceful world requires both.
